As we’re just days away from Samsung’s annual Galaxy Unpacked event, we’re edging closer to getting a proper look at the long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Although Samsung naturally hasn’t officially confirmed what will be announced at Galaxy Unpacked, it has teased that we can expect new Samsung Galaxy models. Plus, historically Galaxy Unpacked has been where the Z Fold and Z Flip ranges have been unveiled.
With all of this in mind, we’ve put together everything we currently know about pre-ordering the Galaxy Z Fold 8, including its expected price, launch date and when orders should open.
Otherwise, make sure you visit our best smartphones and best foldable phones guides to see our current favourites.
When do Galaxy Z Fold 8 preorders open in the UK?
At the time of writing, we don’t know exactly when the Galaxy Z Fold 8 pre-orders will open in the UK. In the meantime, you can currently register your interest in the event, which will enter you in a competition to win one of eight £1000 vouchers.
In addition, Samsung explains that if you “answer a few questions” you’ll receive a £30 voucher to spend on Galaxy ecosystem products when you buy a new handset through Samsung.

Expected Galaxy Z Fold 8 UK price
We don’t currently know how much the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will cost in the UK, but we can provide our best guess. Considering last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 launched with a starting RRP of £1799, we can assume the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will launch with a similar price tag.
However, with RAM prices still continuing to climb and many brands including Sony and Valve admitting this is causing them to raise prices of products, there’s a possibility that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may end up being slightly more expensive than its predecessor.
We’ll be sure to update this guide once we officially know the price.
How Samsung UK trade-ins usually work
Samsung offers a trade-in service which allows customers to send in their old devices, such as smartphones, tablets or smartwatches, for free in order to receive money off a newer model. Trade-ins don’t have to be Samsung products either, although you should check whether your specific device is supported.

To start the trade-in process, you’ll need to check the value of your old device on Samsung’s website. Doing this is easy, as you just need the make, model and condition on the device to hand.
Once you have your valuation, and you’ve applied the discount to your basket and ordered your new Galaxy device, then you’ll need to send your trade-in to Samsung. This can be done either via Freepost package or through a collection service – just make sure you’ve wiped all the data from your device before sending.
Should you buy from Samsung, a network, Amazon, Currys or wait?
Whether you should buy directly from Samsung or from a third-party retailer will depend on each store’s offers and your own specific needs. For example, if you want to buy the handset outright and get a SIM-only plan, then purchasing from Samsung or the likes of Amazon or Currys makes sense. However, if you want to pay monthly for the phone and contract, then a network is the better option.
Historically, we’ve also seen that purchasing directly through Samsung can get you a handset with double the storage for the same starting price. While this is currently just speculation on our part, this is something we saw with the Galaxy S26 launch back in February.
As the Galaxy Z Fold 8 hasn’t been announced yet, retailers naturally haven’t revealed any deals they might have for the handset. We’ll update this guide once we know if there are any particularly appealing offers from certain retailers.
Should you preorder the Fold 8 or buy a discounted Fold 7?
This is a difficult question to answer without having reviewed the Z Fold 8 or without knowing the exact specs either. Once we know more about the Z Fold 8 then we’ll be sure to update this guide with advice on which phone to buy.
Best time to buy: launch, Black Friday, refurbished or post-launch deals
With prices known to fluctuate throughout the year, choosing when the best time to buy any new phone can always feel a bit tricky. While pre-ordering is, of course, a brilliant way to ensure you’ll be among the first to get your hands on the new Z Fold 8, historically pre-orders aren’t always the cheapest option.
With this in mind, opting for post-launch is a good way to give yourself time to shop around retailers and find the best possible deal that suits your needs and budget. Yes, you won’t be the first to own the handset, but you’ll more likely manage a more affordable option for you.
If, however, you’re in no rush to buy the Z Fold 8 and want to hold off for a price drop, then it’s recommended to wait for a sales event like Black Friday. For example, last year we saw the Z Fold 7 drop by a massive £500. In addition, if you’re happy to wait and don’t necessarily care about having a shiny new handset, then you could also wait for a refurbished device which is not only better for the environment but it’s also typically cheaper too. However, you will have to wait for at least a few months or so to benefit from the price drop.
